Completed Studios

Specified, installed, and trained users on a modern 4 seat podcast recording solution for their in-house production studio in partnership with Cloudcast Media. Mission Fed has an internal video production studio, but lacked sufficient staff and training to make the most of it. After installing an easy-to-use recording system and versatile microphones, the Mission Fed studio became the home of Cloudcast Media’s flagship podcast “Spotlight On The Community” and a critical part of the strategic partnership between Mission Fed and Cloudcast. 

As co-founder of Icon Industries, I directly managed the entire creative department for both in-studio and off-site productions. Designed, installed, and trained operators for 12 cameras, 8 editing and live production workstations, 200+TB storage server and high speed network equipment, large format digital audio console and other live sound equipment, vision mixers, post-production software, and much more.

Updated procedures and equipment for improved sound recording and lighting, including the installation of acoustic treatment, speccing equipment and software, and deployment of new LED lighting. Steven started working with Hunter Industries as an intern during his last year of college. This internship immediately transitioned into a long term contract role operating cameras, editing video, and assisting in the creative and production process.

Having built several of the recording systems used by Cloudcast, it makes sense that they called on us once again when launching the Schoolcast program. This required a highly mobile podcast setup that could be brought into schools, set up quickly, and produce repeatable results in a wide range of environments. We specified a versatile and feature rich recorder, built an extensively customized preset from scratch that optimizes settings for their exact broadcast requirements, and helped create the training materials, curriculum, and standard equipment package being used by schools all around San Diego.

As Honey Hole’s live stream became their most profitable venture, they upgraded from cell phones to broadcast equipment at their Escondido, California retail location. The installation's most complex component was a streaming computer, which serves as a hub for cameras and microphones, handling all processing for the streams. We advised over-specifying critical components due to uncertain future studio needs, which proved beneficial as the system retained extra capacity amid multiple expansions, saving costs and time while ensuring reliability for this vital operation.

What started as a quick consultation about choosing new cameras for a home studio in 2018 has turned into a long term collaboration at the Launchr office. Regular consultation sessions have covered maintenance, equipment upgrades, troubleshooting, and support during and after the construction of their new webinar and social media content studio in a commercial office. Ravelle has handled everything from complete system overhauls and training to advanced diagnostic work and equipment replacement.

When STN moved their headquarters, their studio had to move as well. After examining and cataloging their existing setup, the podcast and live streaming studio was packed up and reassembled in a new building with updated lighting and a completely revamped audio and image pipeline. These changes have resulted in faster turnaround times, reduced file sizes, high quality backup recordings, and greater control at all stages of production. After training their staff, the studio has been running smoothly with minimal additional support required.

Before merging to form Icon Industries and building a new studio together from scratch, I worked closely with Cypher Studios to develop a sustainable business model and production processes that have been used and built upon since 2017. This also included many equipment upgrades, installations, and substantial training to modernize production techniques and improve reliability, efficiency, and quality across the entire creative pipeline.

This hilarious and relatable podcast has always had great conversations, but they were a bit hard to hear at first. After making several affordable equipment recommendations and completing the installation and training, they were happily recording with great sound quality, more control, better capabilities for remote call-in guests, improved ergonomics, and simplified audio files that make editing easy. The home studio now features two high quality microphones and an easy-to-use and well documented software solution for recording any combination of mics and call-in guests with broadcast quality sound.
